Maria

There are so many beautiful pieces of pottery to write about, and a couple of our favorites are by one of the most well known potters, simply known as Maria of San Ildefonso, 1887-1980.

The First Roadtrip

You know, I am not really sure if the “first roadtrip” that weekend, in the early 70’s, was about collecting the first piece of art or just to get out of town and visit beautiful northern Arizona.  We had been in the Southwest now for a couple years, having spent the past 10 years working hard between California and New York and a couple places in between, in the building of careers.  When we left Tucson in 1959, the goal was to always get back to the West and by the late 60’s that came about, with some good fortune, by the way, that we all made it here.  However, by Sunday, we had our first beautiful Hopi bowl made by Carol Namoki.
