TURQUOISE SPIRIT JOURNEY
The Charles and Barbara Field Private Collection
Beginning in the 70’s, and really back in the 50’s, with Charley, with an interest and studies in archaeology and anthropology at the University of Arizona and visits to the Seri Indians of Sonora, Mexico near Tiburon Island, Charles and Barbara combined a love of the Southwest Indian arts and crafts, Hopi, Navajo, Zuni, respectful of and befriending artists and collecting fine pieces of the artists artwork.
The Field Private Collection includes katsina figures aka kachina dolls, pottery, jewelry, rugs and paintings.

JOURNEY
it is all about learning along the way
Along the way, we share the stories of the turquoise spirit journey and the art and the meaning. While there is Native American jewelry and rugs and paintings and kachina dolls, as well as pottery, we might as well just start with some of the more well known and go from there.
There are stories of the villages of Santa Clara Pueblo and San Ildefonso Pueblo, of Hopi Feather Woman/Helen Naha (Spider Clan 1922-1993), , Margaret Tafoya (1904-2001) and her Tewa blackware, and Maria Poveka to name a few.
